The Paintoem, Life Without the Possibility of Parole, brilliantly shines a necessary light on a forgotten prison population of women prisoners.
LIFE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE
Her name is K
at 23 she was told
Sheβs a throwaway
Life Without the Possibility of Parole
A walking zombie
without a soul
She begged and begged
for a new life
But spending rehabilitation dollars on her
made no cents
About The Paintoem
Poem: by C-Note
Painting: by C-Note
Life Without the Possibility of Parole (Paintoem) exposes the harsh reality for over 175 women at the Central California Women’s Facility, serving LWOP sentences. Society deems them unworthy of rehabilitation. This urgent issue first touched C-Note through the 2016 Summer publication of California Prison Focus. Inspired to act, he created the poem, and later, this powerful visual piece β a testament to the lost potential and the urgent need for justice.
